BCI Marikina is a Christian school that bridges the Traditional-Conventional approach to the Progressive type of Teaching-Learning Method. We put emphasis on the experiential or Hands-On Learning with the goal of developing student capacity for Self-Directed Learning, Teamwork, Goal Orientation, Sense of Responsibility, Accountability for results, and above all, Godly Christian Character.

BCI Marikina has recently been approved to run a homeschool program for those families who will prefer a parent-led approach.

In the preschool department, the maximum number of students in a class is 15. Each class has a teacher and a teaching assistant. Classes in the Nursery level normally have fewer students (about 10). In the grade school department, the maximum number of students is 25 and there is one teacher. Only the Grade 1 classes have a teaching assistant. In the high school department, the maximum number of students is 30 and there is one teacher.

- BCI Marikina is a Christian school that welcomes students from any religious backgrounds. Students enrolled in the school are expected to comply with all academic policies and to participate in all school activities. Our school offers a “Christian Living” subject for all students starting from the 1st Grade. This subject follows a Bible-based curriculum and teaches Christian values, truths, and applications of lessons from the Bible.

As per the minimum enrollment age set by the Department of Education, children who are 5 years of age on or before October 31 of the school year may enroll in the Kindergarten Level. This means that children age 4 may enroll in the Pre-Kindergarten level, while children age 3 may enroll in our Nursery level.

All students are welcome to apply to BCI Marikina as long as they meet our admissions requirements. For applicants with a diagnosed or known condition, a copy of the latest development report (not later than the past 3 months) from the child’s developmental pedia must be submitted to BCI Marikina’s admissions committee for assessment.

Please note that BCI Marikina does not have a separate SPED program, neither is it a SPED school. This means that upon the recommendation of professionals, we accept students under an inclusion program which may entail additional requirements: such as but not limited to shadow teacher, tutoring, etc.

BCI Marikina complies with the Department of Education (DepEd) Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program. Grade 10 students who are graduates of public high schools can automatically avail the benefits of this voucher. The amount of the voucher is set by the DepEd in coordination with the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC). Grade 10 applicants must still go through BCI Marikina’s Admission Process. The voucher is applied towards the tuition fees of the applicant once enrolled in the school.

BCI Marikina complies with the Department of Education (DepEd) Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program. Grade 10 students who are graduates of private high schools may avail the benefits of this voucher. However, students must individually apply for the said voucher through the Online Voucher Application Portal (https://ovap.peac.org.ph/) created by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC). Grade 10 applicants must still go through BCI Marikina’s Admission Process. A certification from PEAC, stating the amount granted, should then be presented to BCI Marikina during enrollment. The voucher is applied towards the tuition fees of the applicant once enrolled in the school.

BCI Marikina is still in the process of applying to become an ESC-participating school. At the moment, we cannot provide the benefits to an ESC grantee.

Filipino citizens are those with dual citizenship are welcome to apply to BCI Marikina, provided that they follow our application process. Please note that ALL applicants must take the assessment test as well as the family interview.

it is the modified Teacher-led Learning Delivery Mode developed by BCI Marikina in order to pro-actively address the need to impart an Enhanced DepEd K-12 Curriculum to our students from the Pre-School to Senior High School level, without compromising the IATF-imposed health and safety regulations under the New Normal scenarios.

Students will receive the BCI Learning Kit for offline learning:

  • Study Plans
  • BCI Manuals
  • BCI Learning Playlists (pre-recorded lesson content)

The BCI Learning Kit is prepared, processed, and collated in the BCI Marikina Resource Media Center. For deliverables or outputs that need to be submitted, the teachers will identify in advance the most convenient way to get these from the students concerned.

An LMS or Learning Management System is a software-based platform that facilitates the management and delivery of e-learning (Powell, 2020). Our official LMSs are the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, WELA Silid.Co and the BCI Marikina App on iOS and Android phones.

With the adherence to the nature of BBLP, which combines the best and useful features of all available approaches, both teachers and students are given the most effective delivery. Two possible approaches to be used are Synchronous and Asynchronous.

To some extent. The subject teacher will be meeting with the class once a week for online concept introduction, lesson presentation and scheduled consultation periods. The online engagement is a combination of the synchronous lesson introduction & presentation, the learner’ access to the BCI Learning Playlist, & the learner’s completion of the prepared activities.

The ideal device for remote learning is a laptop or desktop. A tablet may also be used. As long as the device that you have has up-to-date software and processor specifications, they will suffice.

Yes. While the internet offers a whole gamut of learning resources, the textbooks will be our common reference material. The textbooks, which we term, the BCI Manuals, will also be used when the class engages in offline learning.

During this quarantine period, BCI Marikina suggests some basic school supplies to be available at home, such as lined papers, notebooks to help organize notes per subjects, writing and coloring materials. The subject teacher will give due notice well in advance as and when additional school supplies will be needed.

The school requires the students to wear any WHITE, SLEEVED, with decent neckline tops during their synchronous classes. Putting on a “uniform” helps the learners get themselves into a learning mindset. Making the student dress in uniform for school/learning time will help establish clearer boundaries between work time and downtime.

The school will continue to implement our complete enriched core curriculum even during this pandemic set up. The BCI Curriculum is not only aligned with what the Department of Education is prescribing, but also includes lessons beyond the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) recently identified by DepEd. The enhanced core curriculum highlights all academic disciplines with emphasis on the principles of Scripture.

The curriculum is further enhanced by a wide variety of non-academic offerings such as the CHIMES and Practical Music Course, where each student of BCI Marikina is provided with the unique opportunity to learn music composition and to master one musical instrument under the guidance of professional music teachers.

The Music subject will be delivered online using a specialized course provider, Zion Praise Music Inc (ZPMI), the same partner Christian organization we have been using for our Practical Music Course (PMC) since the beginning of BCI Marikina, and starting this year, CHIMES. Online programs will be delivered by BCI Marikina course advisors for Health, Arts, and Physical Education.

Included in the BBLP ecosystem are the virtual resources offered by the Library through our partnership with Scholastic’s Prime English and the Student Development Center through guidance and counselling.

Both the librarians and the guidance officers will also be in the learning community and you can always reach out to them and avail of the services.

This is a duty that the school cannot relinquish just because students are not physically in school.  It has always been the direction of our vision and mission that in all school activities and learning opportunities, Bereans will also be nurtured in character, as young Christians.  School policies on discipline will still apply even remotely. Now more than ever, the development of digital citizenship among students will be emphasized.

The health and safety of both our students and our employees remains to be our highest priority. Face to Face classes will commence only when we are given enough evidence that there is no risk of COVID-19 transmission. Should the IATF, DOH, and DepEd already allow Face to Face—BCI Marikina will defer this decision to the students’ families and be very sensitive not to penalize any student should they choose not to come to school for health and safety precautions.

It is possible, but difficult, particularly in managing your time schedules. Many single parents have successfully done that.  Somehow, you would need a qualified guardian or a tutor to assist you.

Designate a convenient place at home suitably well-lighted for reading or writing and where the child can keep books and learning materials.  This will initially help the child in establishing a “routine” or good habit of being there at your mutually-agreed learning times.
